GrowIt BuildIt: If you are planting a prairie or just beginning to add native plants to your garden, this site is a great source of solid, practical information on 100+ native plants that are common in this area. It has great information on identification and characteristics, growing from seeds or plants, the value and uses of the plant, and problems you could face. It also has basic gardening and composting tips. And check out their YouTube channel for helpful videos. For coverage of more plants native to the Upper Midwest, check out the online catalogs of Prairie Nursery (Westfield WI) and Prairie Moon Nursery (Winona MN). Both have excellent information on the plants they sell and extensive sections on how to plant and care for native plantings.
