At this free event, Master Gardener and seed-saver Jean-Margret Merrell-Beech will give a presentation beginning at 3:15 with the seed swap to follow. Bring seeds in well labeled bags/containers, gardening books/magazines, and garden tools to swap. No worries if you do not have seeds to bring, you can still participate. MARCH: Soap Making with Tanya Learn how to make soap the way our ancestors did. Learn about different processes and where to sources supplies. There will be a small fee for supplies used: $15.00. Bring a 6 quart crock pot (one you will no longer be using for food) and/or an immersion blender (we can share if needed), yellow dish gloves, and safety glasses. WinterGreen at Mead Public Library Featuring green-themed activities for people of all ages, WinterGreen is a free event held each March at Mead Public Library. Members of our Association will be there again this year, sharing education about small space gardening with adults and making small pollinator houses with kids. Happy New Year! Our first event of the 2025 will be held at Nourish Farms, as we partner with Nourish for our Annual Seed Swap. The public will be invited along with our members. JUNE 2025 Speaker: Janet Raddatz, Wisconsin Master Naturalist will speak on Bats of Wisconsin. Without bats, grocery stores would look different. Swarms of insects would rule the night. Birds, bats daytime counterparts, could never keep up on bug control responsibilities. Bats are one of the best friends we humans ever had! Unfortunately, more than half of our American bat species are in severe decline. Janet will share her knowledge of these special creatures that affect the quality of our life.
